2. Information we collect
We only collect information that you actively provide or that is automatically recorded when you visit our website.
Information you provide through our forms. When you submit a product enquiry, custom synthesis request, or general contact form, we collect the information you enter — typically your name, organisation, email address, and the technical details of your enquiry (such as product name, CAS number, quantity, timeline, or project description).
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, our servers and infrastructure providers may automatically log standard technical data, including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages visited, and timestamps. This is used to keep the site secure and to understand aggregate usage.
Cookies and analytics. Our website may use a small number of first-party cookies required for site functionality and, if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics tools to measure anonymous aggregate traffic. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide only to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation or feasibility assessment;
- deliver products and supporting documentation (CoA, NMR, HPLC data, MSDS) that you have ordered;
- communicate with you about your specific project or order;
- maintain the security, integrity, and proper operation of our website;
- comply with legal, tax, or export-control obligations that apply to us.
We do not send unsolicited marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional campaigns to people who have simply contacted us through the website. We will only contact you about topics directly related to your enquiry.
4. Legal basis (for visitors in the EU / UK)
If the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to you, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract or pre-contractual request — responding to your enquiry, quotation, and order.
- Legitimate interests — keeping our website secure and maintaining our business records.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records for tax, accounting, or export-control purposes.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share your information with:
- Service providers that operate parts of our infrastructure (such as our website host, email delivery, and shipping carriers), who act on our instructions and under confidentiality obligations;
- Government authorities or regulators, where we are required to do so by law (for example, export-control, customs, or tax authorities);
- Legal advisors or auditors, under professional confidentiality.
For custom synthesis projects, we treat all technical information (structures, synthetic routes, specifications) as strictly confidential and routinely sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) before detailed technical discussion.
6. International transfers
We are based in China and primarily store data on servers located in China. If you contact us from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in China. When we use third-party service providers located in other jurisdictions, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to respond to your request and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle follow-up questions, repeat orders, and to comply with our legal and accounting obligations. Typically this is between 3 and 7 years, depending on whether the enquiry led to a transaction. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 8).
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California, LGPD in Brazil, or the Personal Information Protection Law in China), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- request deletion of your information, subject to our record-keeping obligations;
- object to or restrict how we use your information;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@shellchemtech.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information you provide, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) and access controls on our internal systems. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you by email if we have a current email address for you.
